How to install Couchbase SDK on Ubuntu 17.04 (Zesty Zapus)

  • Despite that Coushbase does not support Ubuntu 17.04 , there is a way to install Couchbase SDK! Couchbase SDK is needed to connect to Couchbase using any programming language (Python, Ruby, C, Java, etc.). Here is a trick:
  1. Download and install the Couchbase GPG key
    sudo wget -qO - http://packages.couchbase.com/ubuntu/couchbase.key | sudo apt-key add -
  2. Add (copy from below and paste using any editor for example vim as below) Couchbase repository from ubuntu 16.04 (it is compatible, so no worries here). Copy
    deb http://packages.couchbase.com/ubuntu wheezy wheezy/main

to APT file that will be created by this command atomatically

    sudo vim /etc/apt/sources.list.d/couchbase.list

and save and quit the editor.

  3. Update APT
    sudo apt update
  4. InstallĀ  Couchbase SDK
    sudo apt install libcouchbase-dev libcouchbase2-bin build-essential
  • Done!
